Mufti Muddassir Oovais

Religious Director of ICF

Mufti Muddassir Oovais is a world-renowned Islamic scholar hailing from Bangalore, India. Since 1999, he has served as the Religious Director at ICF, playing a pivotal role in the growth and establishment of this prominent and impactful institution.

Having completed the memorization of the Qur’an at Madrasa Taleemul Quran, Mufti Muddassir embarked on eight years of intensive study at Sabeelur Rashad, where he obtained authorization in Islamic Scholarship. He further pursued advanced specialization in Hadith studies at the renowned Islamic seminary, Darul Uloom Deoband. Continuing his quest for knowledge, he studied at Darul Uloom Hyderabad, acquiring the authority to issue Islamic edicts as a Mufti.

Currently, Mufti Muddassir Oovais holds the esteemed position of head in the Religious Programs department at ICF, overseeing a dedicated staff of nearly 20 instructors. In this capacity, he provides supervision to various institutions and programs, including the Daily Maktab, Iqra Hifz Academy, Ilm Academy K-12, Darul Uloom Fremont’s Alimiyyah Seminary studies, Talimuddin Islamic courses, and other religious programs under the ICF umbrella. With his exceptional wisdom and character, Mufti Muddassir has become a mentor to countless students and scholars, offering invaluable guidance and nurturing their spiritual growth. Imam Yahya Mulla

Imam of Irvington Masjid (ICF)

Imam Yahya Mulla has been serving as the Imam of the Islamic Center of Fremont since 2012. With his wealth of experience, he is recognized as one of the most accomplished Hifz instructors at ICF, specializing in Qur’an memorization, tajweed (the rules of Qur’anic recitation), and leading prayers. Throughout his tenure, Imam Yahya has passionately trained numerous students, guiding them to successfully complete their Qur’an memorization and excel in their recitation skills. Today, these students proudly lead prayers in various locations across the Bay Area.

Imam Yahya’s journey in Qur’anic studies began with his own memorization of the Qur’an at Darul Uloom Jamia Hussainia. His dedication and commitment earned him authorization in Tajweed, specifically in the Riwayat of Hafs bin Sulaiman. Since 2006, he has been actively involved in serving the Bay Area community, teaching the Quran, and imparting the art of beautiful recitation. In 2012, he took on the esteemed role of Imam at the Islamic Center of Fremont, where he continues to inspire and lead the community in their worship.

Mufti Shadman Ahmed

Resident Scholar & Imam of Masjid Zakariya

Mufti Shadman Ahmed grew up in the blessed San Francisco Bay Area, completing his memorization of the Qur’an at the Islamic Center of Fremont at a young age. In his early adulthood, he was inspired to pursue sacred knowledge after attending gatherings of spiritual purification. Devoting years to study at Darul Uloom Fremont (ICF) under the guidance of Mufti Muddassir Oovais, Shaykh Tamim Ahmadi, Mufti Nawaaz Khan, and Shaykh Abdurrashid Khan, he furthered his education. He then continued his journey to the renowned seminary, Darul Uloom Deoband in India, where he received authorization in Islamic Scholarship from the distinguished Hadith scholar, Mufti Sa’eed Ahmad Palanpuri, may Allah have mercy on him.

Returning to the States, Mufti Shadman pursued a career in software development while simultaneously specializing in Islamic Law. He completed an Ifta program through Darul Ifta Birmingham, granting him the authority to issue Islamic verdicts. His research interest revolves around the topic of “Civil Divorce in Islam,” which can be explored further here. Motivated by a yearning to serve and make a greater impact, he embraced a full-time commitment, bringing him back to where it all began – The Islamic Center of Fremont – where he serves as the Resident Scholar & Imam.

Mufti Kamran Abid

Resident Scholar

Mufti Mohammed Kamran Abid is a native of the Bay Area, having been raised in Fremont. His journey in Islamic education began at ICF Hifz, where he undertook the memorization of the Holy Quran under the guidance of Mufti Muddassir Oovais and Imam Ilyas Anwar. With the completion of his memorization, Mufti Kamran embarked on the pursuit of studying Sacred Knowledge at Darul Uloom Fremont, where he had the privilege of learning from esteemed local scholars such as Shaykh Tamim Ahmadi, Shaykh Abdurrashid Khan, Shaykh Salek bin Siddina, and Mufti Nawaz Khan. Concurrently, Mufti Kamran also pursued higher education at San Jose State University. However, his passion for Sacred Knowledge led him to seek admission to one of the most renowned Islamic Seminaries in the Muslim world, Darul Uloom Deoband in India.

Over the course of almost a decade of dedicated study, Mufti Kamran attained numerous ijazahs, surpassing the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree, in various Islamic sciences, including Fiqh, Hadith, Aqidah, Tafsir, Usul, Arabic Grammar, and its branches, among others. He was also granted ijazahs for numerous books of ahadith, including the Sihha Sittah, the six most authentic collections of Hadith, by the respected Mufti Sa’eed Ahmad Palanpuri (may Allah have mercy on him). Furthermore, he received permission to issue fatwas from Darul Ifta Birmingham.

Currently, Mufti Kamran actively lectures and plays a crucial role in the Alim and Alimah Course at Darul Uloom Fremont, where he imparts his knowledge and expertise to the students.

Mufti Ahsan Osmani

Resident Scholar

Mufti Mohammad Ahsan Osmani is a traditionally-trained Islamic scholar who has dedicated himself to the study of the Arabic language and various other traditional Islamic sciences. With a strong focus on Qur’anic exegesis (tafsir), Hadith, and Fiqh, he pursued his education at Darul Uloom Fremont (ICF) and Darul Uloom New York. Throughout his studies, Mufti Mohammad Ahsan obtained authorizations (ijazahs) in several Islamic disciplines, including the six major collections of Hadith. Furthermore, he holds the authority to issue legal verdicts, granted to him by Darul Ifta Birmingham.

With his extensive knowledge and expertise, Mufti Mohammad Ahsan has not only taught numerous courses but also delivered insightful lectures on a wide range of topics. His commitment to research has led him to delve into various areas of study, including “Riba in Darul Harb” which can be read here.

Presently, Mufti Ahsan serves as a lecturer at Darul Uloom Fremont, where he imparts his wisdom and guides students on their educational journey. Additionally, he actively participates in other programs organized by ICF, contributing to the enrichment of the community.

Shaykh Imraan Mohammed

Shaykh Imraan Mohammed, a native of the Bay Area, was born and raised in this vibrant region of California. After completing his schooling and memorizing the Quran in Folsom, he embarked on a profound journey of seeking sacred knowledge. Devoting himself to the pursuit of religious studies, Shaykh Imraan spent the next decade immersing himself in a comprehensive curriculum under the guidance of esteemed scholars from Africa.

During his rigorous studies, Shaykh Imraan received numerous Ijaazahs in various Islamic sciences, encompassing disciplines such as Fiqh (jurisprudence), Hadith (Prophetic traditions), Aqeedah (theology), Tafsir (Quranic exegesis), Usul (principles of Islamic jurisprudence), Arabic Grammar, Rhetoric, Etymology, Spirituality, and more. His dedication and commitment led him to acquire Ijazah in several books of Ahadith, including the six most authentic collections of Hadith.

Returning to the Bay Area in 2007, Shaykh Imraan has been actively involved in teaching Islamic Studies and the Qur’an to children in various communities. He has imparted his knowledge at esteemed institutions such as Ilm Academy and Northstar Islamic School. In addition, Shaykh Imraan has been a regular speaker, delivering insightful lectures at numerous masjids and Halaqahs (study circles) throughout Northern California. His fluency in American English and his ability to connect with children on their level has been instrumental in fostering their confidence and enthusiasm for learning.

Currently, Shaykh Imraan serves as one of the senior lead instructors at the Islamic Center of Fremont Daily Maktab Quran classes, where he plays a vital role in educating and guiding students.

Ustadha Minahil Anayat

Ustadha Minahil pursued her studies in Islamic Sciences at Darul Uloom in New York, New York. From 2012 to 2017, she dedicated herself to learning and received ijazahs (authorizations) in various subjects of Islamic studies from renowned scholars. Committed to her mission of spreading the message of Islam, she actively engaged in propagating the faith within her local community. After relocating to California, she took on the roles of an instructor and speaker in several masjids in the Bay Area.

Currently, Ustadha Minahil serves as a youth mentor for ICF Youth and holds a full-time teaching position at Darul Uloom Fremont, specifically at Masjid Zakariya. Her passion for guiding and mentoring the youth is evident in her role as a mentor, providing support and guidance to young individuals. Additionally, her expertise and knowledge make her a valuable instructor, enriching students’ educational experiences at Darul Uloom Fremont.

Ustadha Fatima Bholat

Ustadha Fatimah Bholat, a native of Los Angeles, California, embarked on a journey in 2006 to Jamea Al Kauthar in England to pursue an Alimiyyah degree in Islamic Sciences. During her time at the institution, she was granted ijazahs from renowned scholars, solidifying her expertise in various disciplines such as Tafsir (Qur’anic exegesis), Hadith (Prophetic traditions), Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Aqeedah (theology), and Arabic. The authentic isnād (chain of transmission) accompanying these ijazahs reflects the depth and authenticity of her knowledge.

Throughout her educational pursuit, Ustadha Fatimah had the privilege of seeking guidance from esteemed scholars in England.

After completing her studies, Ustadha Fatimah actively taught Islamic studies and mentored young girls. Her passion for imparting knowledge and fostering the spiritual growth of her students has been instrumental in shaping their understanding of Islam.

Presently, Ustadha Fatimah serves as an instructor at Darul Uloom Fremont, where she continues to contribute her expertise to the educational development of students.

Ustadha Umm Ubaid

Ustadah Umm Ubaid completed her Bachelor of Medicine degree from the University of Bombay and briefly practiced as a General Physician in Bombay before immigrating to the US with her husband. With 15 years of extensive teaching experience, she has instructed children of all ages in Islamic Studies at Al Arqam School. Additionally, she dedicated seven years to homeschooling her four children.

After graduating and receiving her ijazah (authorization to teach) from Nawal Academy in Chicago, Ustadah Umm Ubaid embarked on her teaching journey. Since 2019, she has been serving the Bay Area by delivering lectures, conducting classes, and providing mentorships. 

Currently, she is a dedicated instructor at Darul Uloom Fremont, Masjid Zakariya.
